Payroll Accountant

A payroll accountant is one of the most common positions within the industry, yet also one of the most important. These individuals are crucial to the success of any payroll team, undertaking a complex and varied role.

The nature of the payroll industry often means there are significant differences between company to company when it comes to a payroll position. While there are some unusual circumstances which can arise, a payroll accountant will generally be called upon to perform similar tasks wherever they go, organising salary payments, preparing payslips and monitoring any additions or deductions from pay which are required.

What To Look For

Of course, a payroll accountant should have a keen eye for figures and be able to create and manage spreadsheets within Microsoft Excel with ease. Relevant experience is also necessary, although many of the skills held by an accountant are transferrable, and could potentially be obtained within a different position.

Any individual you recruit must be adept at working as part of a team, as they will form part of a chain that will enable the payroll department to run smoothly. Portfolio Payroll are the experts when it comes to payroll recruitment, with our in-depth knowledge allowing us to become the only recruitment agency recommended by CIPP.
